Bowling Green, Ky.—November 14, 2022—The City of Bowling Green is pleased to announce its all-new Downtown Development Division (Downtown BGKY) received multiple destination marketing awards at the statewide Kentucky Travel Industry Association (KTIA) annual conference last week.
KTIA is comprised of over 1,000 members, representing any entity interacting with the tourism and hospitality industries. Members include convention and visitors bureaus, attractions, hotels, tourism commissions, government agencies, restaurants, media outlets, creative and research-driven agencies, industry suppliers, tour operators, etc.
The City of Bowling Green joined KTIA this year with the creation of its all-new Downtown Development Division. The division’s mission is to create an even better downtown destination, including promoting local businesses, amenities, activities, and the all-new entertainment destination center, Fountain Row.
At its annual conference, KTIA hosts the Golden Gala to announce its Traverse Award winner, given for excellence in destination marketing. At this year’s event, there were over 160 entries from across the state. Downtown BGKY received four awards for the Fountain Row launch earlier this summer. The awards included a Bronze in Radio & TV Advertising for the Fountain Row explainer video, a Silver in PR Initiative and Experience Development for the Fountain Row Launch, and Gold in Specialty Promo Items for the Fountain Row Launch coasters, stickers, and Downtown BGKY bottle openers.
“We’re very proud of our ongoing Fountain Row marketing and public education efforts,” Downtown Development Coordinator Telia Butler said. “Winning destination marketing awards during our inaugural year of development and promotional efforts is a huge win for the City and all of Bowling Green. Tourism and hospitality together make up one of the biggest employment sectors in Bowling Green and Warren County, and we are proud to support them and our industry partners.”
This was City’s inaugural year attending these KTIA events and winning any tourism or hospitality marketing awards. The Downtown Development Division will continue its marketing efforts to create and promote Downtown BGKY as a destination. Other Traverse Award winners from Bowling Green include the National Corvette Museum, Bowling Green Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, and Historic RailPark & Train Museum.
There were 11 KTIA conference attendees representing Bowling Green overall, including the Bowling Green Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, National Corvette Museum, Historic RailPark & Train Museum, Three Springs Hospitality, Southern Kentucky Hospitality Association, and the Hampton Inn Bowling Green.
